I know I already referenced Nancy Leigh DeMoss and her current radio series on the life of Joshua. But I must do it again, because today she gave an excellent, excellent message on intercessory prayer: "The Powerful Work of Intercession." (As before, you may need to select the message's date from the upper-right corner of the screen, which will be Tues., Feb. 24.) Drawing from both Scripture and personal experiences, she calls us to the reasons why intercessory prayer is vital -- why we need the prayers of others and why we need to be praying for others. A line I find especially poignant:
"I believe one of the reasons we’re seeing so many spiritual battles lost in our marriages and for the souls and the hearts of our children is because we don’t have the work of intercession going on."
If you read this, you may also be interested in (I highly recommend!) a transcript from "Gateway to Joy" (with Elisabeth Elliot and Nancy Leigh DeMoss) on the way we view and relate to our husbands, especially in prayer. The title is "Reviving a Marriage," and you can view it here.
